Here are 8 expressions, together wirh pictures and examples of how to use them in sentences, in order to help you remember them better:
- « Falling into the apples » : fainting.

Example: “With the heat wave, my grandmother had a nervous breakdown and fell into the apples. She had to be resuscitated to regain consciousness.”
- “It’s his spitting image”: he’s exactly the same, identical!

Example: “He looks like his father as if he was his double: he is his spitting image. “
- “There are three peeled and one sheared”: there are very few people.

Example: “No, I don’t want to go to that discotheque: there are three peeled and one sheared. There’s almost no one there, we’re not having fun. “
- « Do something tearing-off-foot”: with determination, with a lot of effort.

Example: “She started working tearing-off-foot on this project: she spends all her free time there, doesn’t sleep anymore and thinks only about that! “
- « Make himself a trunk » : go away, run away.

Example: “I never knew my father. He got my mother pregnant and then he made his trunk: he left without leaving any news for anyone. “
- “Give a hand kick to someone”: helping a person, doing a service to someone.

Example: “This cabinet is too heavy, I can’t move it alone. I need some help. Who’s coming to give me a hand kick? »
- “Splitting the pear in half”: sharing fairly, finding a compromise.

Example: “You don’t want to spend a weekend with my mother, but I want you to come anyway. Let’s split the pear in two: you’re only coming to spend the evening with us and not all weekend, is that okay with you?”
- “Rolling on gold”: being very rich.

Example: “He doesn’t even need to work, he’s rolling on gold. His father is a multimillionaire. ”
